| All of this Ragnarok Online lately has been bringing back memories of all the old MUD's and other free MMO's I've played in my days of internet use. Which brought to me the though of, what other free MMO's and MUD's have other people played over the years?
For the free MMO's, I've played a few a couple names I've forgotten as time has gone on. The list that I can remember goes as MU online, Fairyland, and er ok that list is a lot shorter then I thought it would be. As for MUD's I use to play Nightmist Online, Reveletion, Realms of Kaos, and Imperian.
Out of all of these I spent the most time playing Nightmist, mainly due to the people I encountered, though it had its drawbacks, like for instance you could log into and have as many characters running as you could handle. I use to run around with 6, it was a good number and didn't weight me down to the point I was in-effective in leveling and killing anyone who tried to in turn kill me.
soo yea, pie... | |

| Not sure what you mean by MUD, but I used to play some free mmos too. Gate to Heavens (yes. It's not a typo) was an mmo I played for a good while. It was pretty fun. Kind of a grind fest like RO is, but still enjoyable. I eventually joined a guild, but this particular guild was HATED by this other one for some reason. Some areas of the game were PK maps, and that other guild used to camp at the entrance and kill players of the guild I was in. I died a few times because of that. There was another mmo I played, but I only played it for 5 days. | |

| MUD stands for multi-user-dungeon. They're generally text based games, and some of them have a few graphics. You generally have to type to move, or do some other actions. | |

| Here's a pretty interesting MUD I came across (although they're more like interactive stories than MUDs). The Bryant Collection It has like four or five games in it (although they are pretty short and mostly experimental). I'm trying to determine if the main story is true and that the programmer actually found the collection in a yard sale. If this is true the games pre-date tabletop gaming and the creation of MUDs.
As for MMOs I've only had two stints on WoW (stints mainly b/c of financial reasons coupled with a small harddrive).

| Kongregate has a nice Steampunk MMO/Platforming/RPG called Remnants of Skystone. The only thing that sucks, you need to pay for member service...so I just play the co-op missions and sometimes Single route.
You can play it right here http://www.kongregate.com/games/FliplineStudios/remnants-of-skystone
