So I've been kicking this idea around for a little while, as I tend to do to my ideas. And even after that step, it usually takes me quite a while to actually get my ideas down into type so... Yeah.
The Nameless Island drama-cast was so incredibly fantastic, that I thought it deserved its own little ficlet. To try and do it some honor! And in light of that, and the fact that I enjoy a bit of writing in my life, I thought I would take a stab at it. I kind of modeled the characters after the people who play them... I'm pretty new to PON though, so I apologize if I got you wrong. *Bows* It's pretty limited in its insight into anybody however, so... no worries.
Try and identify yourself in the ending party segment maybe? And I have a tendency to never finish the writings I start, so don't be surprised.
Otherwise, enjoy?
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~ Nameless Island: Part 01 ~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~
Within the darkness, there was feel. Some liquid rushing through the cracks and joints in metal armor, inciting a shiver in the body with its frigid caress. Within the darkness, there was also sound. The crash of waves beating against a nearby shore, over and over again like the futile attacks of a novice. Within the darkness there was taste, and there was smell as well, but within the darkness... There was not light. And so, it was time to shed light.
A fledgling swordsman, known to quite a few though only under his alias "Wolf," forced his eyes open and let out a unpleasant groan. It was a meaningless and wordless noise from the throat, but what it was supposed to mean was "Where am I?" In his case however, the two things might as well have been the same; after expelling an impressive amount of sand from his mouth and more of it away from his eyes, it turned out that... There was nobody here. The young man struggled to get a better look, forcing his body to cooperate in an effort to roll over onto its back and sit up; a simple action by even the most simple standards. Albeit at this very moment, it was proving exceptionally difficult... How ever he arrived at this where-ever-he-was, the swordsman reflected, the journey had definitely not been kind to his body.
After no small amount of painful manuvering and silent frustration though, Wolf leaned his back against a thankfully nearby palm tree and caught his first full glimpse of the area. It turned out, so far as he could see anyways, that there was nobody
anywhere. A number of wooden structures had fallen into serious disrepair, rotted planks hanging from the walls and littering the lawns. The swordsman hesitated to refer to them as 'houses' but... he couldn't think of anything else appropriate aside from 'shack' and they were quite a bit bigger than that. Not quite as big as the ocean though, the only other thing of interest he could lock eyes on. It seemed to stretch on endlessly towards the horizon, taunting the warrior into making some foolhardy attempt at escape.
Nothing in his sight offered any explanation as to 'why' he was here either. Wolf's last memory prior to waking up on this strange nameless island was approaching the gates of Payon, trying to make it to a scheduled meeting with some other adventurers and friends.
'Did I black out? Sleepwalking? Kidnapping...? Was I in the town or did I even make it that far?' Questions that would incite panic in a lesser man drifted through the swordsman's head, and even though there were no answers, he did not stray away from his calm nature.
'Was there anybody nearby? I was heading for the shop so ther-!'In a short moment of hope, the warrior grabbed excitedly at the bag on his waist and dug into it, rooting through the leather pouch for any sort of wing. "I guess I didn't make it that far," he sighed to nobody in particular as his search came up empty. The failure did not dampen his spirits too far though, as he returned to staring thoughtfully at the empty houses...
Eventually, the young man's queue of questions began drying up and, without even confusion to keep his mind active, the peaceful swish of the tides alongside his exhaustion from the mysterious journey pulled heavily on his eyelids. He fought it valiantly for a time, as though sleep were some rapid Peco Peco, but without even the strength or will to stand up, he drifted off into a dreamless rest. Wolf's last thought before slipping away though comforted him:
'At least my pals will realize I'm gone soon...'~~~~~~~~~~
Meanwhile, in a part of Rune Midgard bathed in deep evergreen needles and lively emerald leaves, a sizable group of adventurers from all walks of life surrounded a flickering campfire. They had scheduled a meeting there earlier in the day and, unfailingly, everybody had shown up more or less on time... with the exception of one. Even at this time, no formal discussion had occurred yet (not that it was ever very formal) all because of a single man's absence. The group spoke freely among themselves about what could be keeping him though...
"That idiot probably got lost on the way here," a female archer grumbled through slightly clenched teeth, crossing her arms over her chest at the same time.
"
You got lost on
your way here didn't you," a swordsman spoke out, kneeling idly next to a large shield and sword stabbed into the soft dirt.
"Lo- Shut up!"
A nearby dancer and female acolyte laughed lightly at their sister's mishap, though quieting themselves (at least partially) when she turned her glare onto them.
Perhaps concerned with those trying to make light of the situation, a male acolyte settled things down to 'silent' with a serious glance towards those gathered. "Do you think anything could've happened to him?"
"I doubt it," another Swordsman guessed from his position on the outskirts of the group, leaning against a halberd speared into the ground. "Afterall, it's just Payon... Not as if he was eaten by a rampaging mushroom."
A female Assassin Cross, unquestionably the most experienced of the group, was not so simply convinced though. "Maybe we should look around anyways? I can ask some of my contacts nearby if they've seen him."
And to this, the entire group decided it would probably be for the best. They stood up, extinguished the fire with a simple spray of dirt, and dispersed to find a wandering Wolf.
