| You've probably heard me mention Guild Wars/Guild Wars 2 a few times. I consider Guild Wars my first MMO. Sure, I started out with Ragnarok Online, but only on private servers. Never played iRO until recently. But Guild Wars, Guild Wars is my baby.
I am eagerly awaiting Guild Wars 2's arrival. Why? Because it's gonna be the Guild Wars I love, but in a persistent world. Combat is looking to be more action oriented, which is exciting. Also, from what I've been reading, it seems to be more solo-able as well. The original Guild Wars was party based. You had to form a party to do anything. The only time you were alone was during the very beginning of the original title. I thought it was kinda cool, but if you want to accomplish anything, you had to form a balanced party... though, I guess that goes for most MMOs.
Another thing I loved about Guild Wars was/is that it's free. Yeah, you have to pay the normal price for a new game, but there's no monthly fees to deal with; nor are there any special pay items to buff your character. The only thing that you could have paid for was an extra character slot. And speaking of characters, grinding hardly existed in GW. The max level was 20, but you could get there in about a month of solid playing. Seems they want to continue this in GW2. They haven't explained what they're going to do, but they mentioned they're keeping with the idea.
As I said, GW was party based, but character wise, it's skill based. You don't have stats like int, or str or vit. But rather you have stats based on your class. Like, say for a Warrior; you'd have Sword/Hammer/Axemastery among other categories for your skills. So, things like, "lol I'm 20 levels higher than you, you can't beat me" don't really happen in GW pvp. Instead, what determines how you win, are your character's skils and the team work of your party members.
This is some tl;dr material right here, but it just goes to show how excited I am for Guild Wars 2. Also, as a treat, ArenaNet just released a new trailer for Guild Wars 2 today. It pretty much sums up what I've said (but more so about Guild Wars 2, instead of the original). You can view it here.
Sadly, it doesn't have a release date. Only TBA 2011. So, I've got a wait on my hands. But, I'm willing to do so.

| Eric played some Guild Wars, I always wanted to get into it, but it's probably too late now with 2 coming out soon. The first one didn't really ask for a super computer right? I wonder what the 2nd one asks for. | |

| Same here, my laptop could more than likely handle it, but if a lot of people in our group can't play it that would suck. | |

| If you can run L4D2 or most steam FPS fine, you should be able to run GW, even at the lowest settings. From what I remember, they designed the game so that most PC's can run it. You could try out the original if you want, I believe there's a demo on the Guild Wars site.
I didn't know you played Golden. My main's a Warrior/Dervish now, but I started out as a W/E. Are you gonna get GW2?

| I played years ago with the rest of my family, we were all kinda addicted haha.
I'll probably get it, yeah. The cool thing about GW is that there isn't a subscription fee, so I don't feel locked in a contract to play every single day forever.

The original had the option for windowed mode, so I'm gonna assume GW2 will as well. And, that's pretty awesome Golden.

| I thought about casting it, but I don't have anything I'd really like to do. I'm pretty much done with the game. | |
